ikigai

Read a book recently called Ikigai . I means Ikigai (生き甲斐, pronounced [ikiɡai]) is a Japanese concept that means "a reason for being " as per google . Sometimes we keep asking ourselves what is the purpose of our life , that is ikigai . It could be different for different people , finding it helps to lead better lives 

I like helping people , so something to do that would be my ikigai . Also mentioned in the book are community living , we have forgotten how to live in a community 

It also emphasizes on moving your body and being physically , mentally active , working till the last day of your life , gardening , doing surya namaskars , doing work without distractions , eating till you are  80 percent full .

Being an introvert doesn't help in the corporate world . You need to be loud and clear to get recognized . Its a tough world out there . Some things which can help out are

1. Ensure to talk in meetings

2. Participate in everything

3. Network with the right people

4. Be genuine and don't play games

When you fall , you learn

When you fall , you learn - This is so true , In the literal sense when I met with a minor accident , I learnt a few things .

1. We are all alone , at difficult times , we have to handle it no matter what

2.You have no idea what s happening and the pain hurts

3. More than the physical pain , its the helplessness which makes you weak . Here I couldn't walk or do the things which I like .

4. You almost go into depression .

But then you raise above all this to fight , to dust and get up . Ignore the people who let you down .prove them wrong , Be so good at everything you do that they are left speechless.

Satsang

I was listening to Guruji Sri Sri other day , he was telling in relationships we should not do moral policing . Where you went etc etc...allow people to themselves...Empower if possible...

He was telling to light the diya and have a pooja place . I have started lighting diya from today .

Things not to do when you are  a manager

- Never do micro management

- Always support your team

-Make them feel good for working with you

- Allow them to make decisions

- Don't create separate rules for different people


Don't lose your mind

Currently reading Rujutha Diwekar s book  Don't lose your mind , lose weight . She says some simple steps which help to lose or maintain weight . Some of the things which she says

- Have seasonal food

- Eat every 2 hours

- Have ghee

- Have almonds and kesar socked in water everyday morning , it  helps to reduce cramps during periods and helps for skin

- Dal chawal in the night is the best

Life as it is

I have to start blogging again , it gives me a lot of joy .For some reasons , we stop doing things which gives us joy . I'm watching a Netflix series called Queer eye . It was recommended by Author Preeti Shenoy . Its such a cool program . Its how they transform each person . Some insights from the series

- Dress the right way , it gives you a lot of confidence .

- Keep your house well maintained , it gives a sense of peace and serenity .

- Cook simple healthy meals , it keeps you healthy

- Exercise right , it helps .

Insightful session

I had insightful session today at office . Person who is  a author and quite successful was telling about 4 things

1. Upskilling - Being the most knowledgeable person in the room or meeting , prepare well ahead of the meeting so that you can be confident about yourself , be the smartest person in the room .

2. Power dressing - Even if you repeat clothes , its important to dress powerfully . Need to follow it seriously , Sometimes we don't give importance to clothing .

3. Personal Branding - Its good to have personal branding of yourself . Be known for your skillsets and work on it

4. Hobbies - Have a hobby , something which you do outside of work . It could be reading or whatever it is , nurture it .

We had a session in office as part of women s day celebration . Host was Dr. Amruta , who has won various awards . Key things which she mentioned in her talk has been mentioned below

- To practice meditation and yoga

- To spend some time with yourself

- to hire a cook if required

The Glad Game

Reading currently 2 books , one is essentialism by Greg Mckeown and Magic by Rhonda Bryne . Both have been good so far ,My first books for this year . Some insights from these 2 books . Essentialism speaks about focusing only on few things and not taking too many things to do . Learning to say No

Magic Speaks about seeing the good in everything , counting your blessings . In the book they had suggested about the movie Poliyanna , 1960 Movie . The little girl in the movie plays the glad game where she is grateful about everything in life . Even in the worst of situations , she sees something good .
